Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a service in which a patron may request materials not owned by the Morton-James Public Library from another library.

  • ILL is available to any patron in good standing with a current Morton-James Public Library card.

  • Morton-James Public Library does not charge for interlibrary loan service.

  • The patron is required to pay return postage for the item received, whether or not they check the item out.

  • The postage is due when the item is picked up.

  • Lending periods are determined by the lending library's policies.

  • Overdue fines will be assessed if the due date is missed.

  • Patrons who lose materials received through ILL will be required to pay the fine or replace the item according to the policies of the lending library.

You may request an item through interlibrary loan by filling out a form at the library or using the online form.

Homebound Delivery Program

  • The homebound delivery program is available to provide library materials to patrons living within the city limits of Nebraska City who are physically unable to visit the library in person.
  • Patrons are eligible for this service if they are unable to leave their home due to surgery, illness, accident, or disability, and do not have a means of transportation.
  • To participate in this program a library card is necessary.

If you are interested in receiving this service, contact the library by calling 873-5609 or complete the online form

 Kimmel Gallery Meeting Room

As a community service, the Morton-James Public Library offers the Kimmel Gallery for use by nonprofit, community groups and organizations.  However, library activities or events have priority over any organization or group meetings.

Drive Up Book and Media Returns

  • The library has a drive up book return and a media return located on the south side of the library.
  • Both returns are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
  • All materials returned after 4:30 p.m. will be checked in on the next business day.
  • Some of the library’s audiovisual material is too large for the media return and must be returned to a circulation desk inside the library.

NOTE:  Audiovisual material put in the book return will receive a $1.00 fine per item.

Self-Serve Photo Copier

A self-serve photo copier is available to the public.  Black and white copies are 10 cents each and color copies are 50 cents each.
